Barbara "Barb" Edward Stark is the daughter of James and Maria Stark, heir to the Stark empire. After her parents were gunned down by a mugger in front of her, Barbara inherited the family fortune, though her father's friend Obadiah Daggett run Stark Industries until she turned 18. After she was kidnapped by terrorists and gravely injured in a isolated island, Barb passed the next two years training to master both her body and mind as well as attempting to escape alongside her fellow captive, Professor Ho Yinsen. After escaping, with the sacrifice of Yinsen, Stark returned to her hometown of New York City, secretly becoming the vigilante known as Batwoman.
