Digimon: A Million Points of Light is a Japanese-American science fiction fantasy action-adventure film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written and produced by Drew Gars, based on the anime series of the same name. The film is a sequel to Digimon: The Duel of BlackWarGreymon and the seventh installment of the live action Digimon film series. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Dylan Minnette, Noah Crawford, Mason Cook, Haliee Steinfeld, Joey King, Ty Sympkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, Charlize Theron, Peter Serafinowicz, Ansel Elgort, Josh Hutcherson, Asa Butterfield, Bella Thorne, Robert Sheehan, Liana Liberato, Tom Cruise, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Ken Watanabe, Genevieve Gaunt, Simon Pegg, Liam Neeson, Zach Woods, Samuel L. Plot[]

As summer vacation starts to begin, wild Digimon and Control Spires start appearing all over the world. The DigiDestined decide to go all around the world to team up with DigiDestined youths in different locations to send the Digimon back to the Digital World. Not only that, they also have to face an enemy who is responsible for this, assassinations on those who knew about the Myotismon attack and the one who is responsible for Ken becoming the Digimon Emperor.

Production[]

During production on Digimon 6, executive producer Drew Gars revealed that there will be a seventh film of the live action Digimon film series. It's confirmed that it will be directed by Len Wiseman. Gars announced that he will return as head writer and the main producer and it will be the final chapter.

Industrial Light & Magic was chosen to create the visual effects for the first film and the second film. Hongo and Gars hired Oscar winners John Knoll and Hal T. Hickel, both known for their work on the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Legacy Effects was hired to do the special and practical effects on the film. Shane Mahan, known for creating the armored suits for Iron Man, was hired on as effects supervisor. John Rosengrant was also brought in for his work on Real Steel. Oscar winner Clay Pinney, known for his work on Independence Day and Star Trek, was also brought on board. Hybride Technologies, a division of Ubisoft, and Rodeo FX also contributed to the visual effects music: hero by skrillet and digimon theme song. Some of the practical creature effect were provided by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

Ken Watanabe, Simon Pegg, Liam Neeson, Genevieve Gaunt, Zach Woods, David Henrie, Robin Tunney, J.R. Bourne, Tracy Middendorf, Sasha Alexander, Matt Passmore, Michael Trucco, Caroline Dhavernas and Samuel L. Jackson have confirmed to return to reprise their roles from the previous trilogy.
