The first season of the American television reality game show series Madness! began airing on July 9, 2011 and ended on November 12, 2011. The actual filming for the show took place during the summer of 2010. The season aired a total of twenty episodes and featured a total of twenty contestants. The season was hosted by American comedian Chris Rock. The theme of the season was nations & politics and it was as such set in Washington D.C. which is the capital of the United States of America.

During this season of Madness!, there were two teams of twelve contestants. To fit with the political theme of the show's first season the teams where named Team Liberty and Team Noble.

During this season of Madness!, the challenges will be team based and political themed. Most challenges wil test the contestants knowledge of United States history and decision making abilities. The two teams will act as micronations which the contestants will have to run successfully. Likewise teamwork is emphasized deeply.

Team Leadership

In compliance with the season's political theme, teams must have leaders known as Presidents. At the beginning of the season the members of both teams will hold an election to see who will be the leader of the team. Whoever gets the most votes will become the team's leader. The elected 'president' of the team will then choose a vice-president will be the teams co-leader. In the event that the team's president is voted off, a new election will be held to decide a new leader. In the event that the team's president is unable to continue participating and/or leaves the show the team's vice president automatically becomes leader.

During this season of Madness!, the elimination process was known as elections. Instead of voting for someone to take up a position, losing teams will be forced to 'elect' someone to be voted off the show. Whoever recieves the most votes from their teammates will then be eliminated from the competition. The actual meeting where the losing contestants will be announced is known as an elemination conference.
