Mass Effect is an American science-fiction drama television series that premiered on March 6, 2013, on NBC. The series follows an elite military commander who must stop an army of synthetic beings known as Reapers from wiping out all organic life in the galaxy. The series is produced by BioWare in association with NBC Studios. Ever since its inception, Mass Effect has received critical acclaim and has won several awards such as Best Drama Serial and Best Television Series - Drama. The TV series have earned its cult following.
The series focuses on a hardened war hero named John Shepard, who discovers that an army of antiquated, synthetic beings known as Reapers are preparing to invade the Milky Way, with the sole objective of wiping out all organic life. With the help of his squadmates, Shepard must stop the plans of the Reapers and ultimately rally the forces of the galaxy together for the impending war that will decide the fate of the galaxy.

Bioware initially launch the project on the eve of Mass Effect 3 worldwide release. NBC and ABC disputed over the right of the project. Project director Casey Hudson chose NBC due to budget issues. Most of the space scene are shot under the consultation of NASA space footage in order to add the realism. Unaired pilot on February 2, 2013 gained highy favorable reception. The writers Steven Moffat and Peter Jackson alternated between episodes and both decided to put in in 2 hours format per episode, 3 episodes per season. The principal photography are shot in 48 fps format to give more realistic experience. Season 2 is announced on May 5, 2013, on Dominic Purcell's twitter page. On July 8, 2013, Bruce Greenwood have officially casted, his role is currently unknown. On the same day, on his twitter, Martin Sheen congratuated Bruce Greenwood on his casting and looking forward in doing voiceover with him, leading on speculation that Martin Sheen will also return to his role as voiceover.
