SOCOM: US Navy SEALs: Seacrest Landing is the second in the series of Sierra Nine Eight Four Studios-developed SOCOM games. Still a third-person shooter, the game follows Wraith, who, after a year of R&R, is facing terrorist attacks by a group calling themselves the American Liberation Army, who base themselves out of Seacrest County. Wraith will team up with the Most Wanted racer and the most experienced Seacrest County Police Department officer there to take them down.

GameplayEdit

Gameplay remains much the same between the two games. However, to equalize them somewhat while giving each character an edge over the other, if the Officer is carrying a set of guns, they will carry over between missions. Likewise, the last car Wraith has driven will also carry over between missions.

Wraith still specializes in running and gunning, with the attachments from Fireteam Bravo 3 available. A notable new feature is the ability to aim down the sights without carrying optics, which is useful for precise attacks or firing out of windows. Wraith will still have the support of Sandman, Raven, and Toro in his operations, and will be using the entire squad right from the start. The Most Wanted and SCPD Officer are only referenced by "Racer" and "Officer", and are never given names. They specialize in driving vehicles, and can still leave the car. New moves now include the ability to bail from a car while it's still rolling.

Command Equity is seperate between all three characters though it can be transferred if need be. If a main mission is complete, CE is earned for all accounts, with additional CE earned for the account used if bonus objectives were completed. Freegun, the sandbox gameplay mode, returns. Wraith is able to partake in three types of missions returning from the first game: Sabotage, which involves the destruction of the object (expanded so that anything can destroy it), Neutralize, involving the assassination of a certain target, and Disable, which involves disabling certain electronics. The Racer can perform time trials for CE, and can also partake in races. Finally, the Officer can chase down other racers and bust street races, mainly in safety's name. Each of those jobs earn CE. As well, enemies killed also earn small amounts of CE. Wraith can then spend CE at the quickly-built SOCOM Armories to purchase weapons and attachments for those weapons, as well as additional ammo. The Racer can go to Vehicle Dealerships to purchase vehicles using CE, and the Officer can request SCPD cars utilizing his CE.

A notable addition to gameplay is car combat. At the start of the game, this is more or less accomplished by using Nitrous and ramming cars or smashing into them. However, eventually the Racer and Officer will unlock weapons. Both of them will unlock a directed electro-magnetic pulse generator and spike strips; the Racer will unlock a speed boost that can catapult him up to full speed and a jammer to prevent the enemies from locking onto his car or calling in for backup, whereas the Officer will get access to a heavily armed assault chopper that can drop spike strips, and a roadblock made up of heavy SUVs. Each of them can upgrade cars with built-in machineguns to help in vehicular assault and homing rockets to attack armored vehicles and aircraft, as well as wheel spikes for close combat and bulletproof armor to decrease the damage taken.

Wraith can still drive cars, however, their Nitrous will recharge more slowly. He will not be able to repair cars, but he can carry them over between primary missions provided they survive. Wraith is not able to upgrade his cars either. However, his advantage is, as said before, the ability to utilize weapons and custom attachments. The Racer and Officer, however, primarily use their cars and can repair them. Though they can use weapons, they are not able to select their weapons: they are still able to recharge ammo through dead enemies. If they are armed up, they will keep their weapons and ammo between missions.

A preorder will unlock race car variants of several of the cars in-game, which will later be released as DLC.

Weapons, Vehicles, and AttachmentsEdit

All of the guns are kept from Welcome to Paradise, but the Burnout: Paradise cars have been replaced with the cars from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit.

GunsEdit

Guns are rated on a statistics system. Damage represents the damage per bullet. Range represents the relative range. Accuracy represents how accurate the weapon will be when firing. Mobility represents the speed the character will run when they are carrying that weapon. Fire Rate represents how fast the weapon can fire. The scale is very low, low, medium, high, and very high, generally. Fire rate can also be classified as semi-automatic, three-round burst, pump-action, bolt-action, and double-action.

OpticsEdit

Improved Iron Sights - Available for some weapons, this enlargens the iron sights and gives them self-illuminating tritium sights, making them easier to aim down.

Reflex Sight - A sight that projects a red crosshair. When aimed down, the crosshair's center indicates the point of impact. The crosshair will sway when the gun is aimed. There are three choices of standard skin: the EOTech 551, the Mueller QuickShot, or the Aimpoint CompM4 (the last two of which project red dots), but other skins include:

  • The P90's internal optics, which instead provide two green circles, and is unique to the P90
  • The PP2000's unique red dot sight, which projects a red dot, and is unique to the PP2000
  • The Call of Duty: World at War-styled Aperture Sight, essentially a circular piece of glass with a black circle at the center as an aiming point, and is unique to World War II weapons
  • The Kobra EKS, which projects a red dot, and is unique to all AK-derivative weapons
  • The G36 internal optics, which also projects a red dot, and is unique to the G36c, G36K, G36A2, MG4, and MG36
  • The Mars Sight, which also projects a red dot, and is unique to the TAR-21 and the MTAR-21
  • The XM8 internal optics, which projects a red dot as well, and is unique to the XM8C, XM8 Carbine, and XM8 LMG
  • A Black Ops-styled red dot is utilized instead of the standard Reflex for Cold War-era weapons.

Low Power Scope - A scope that has a 4x magnification factor, which means that when it's zoomed in, it will zoom in to 4 times as much as a human can see. A red crosshair is part of the scope, which is the impact point. The standard skin is the Trijicon TA31, but other skins include:

  • A World at War-styled telescopic sight is utilized for World War II weapons.
  • The PK-AV AK-derivative scope, which is used for all AK-deriv weapons.
  • The F2000 utilizes its scope cover instead of the regular scope.
  • The AUG A2 and AUG HBAR will equip a Swarovski Scope instead of a regular scope.
  • All Cold War era weapons without a derivative sight will use the Colt Scope made for the M16.
  • The SUSAT optics set, used for all British assault rifles and snipers
  • The G11's internal optics, used on... the G11. What else?
  • The Elcan C79A1, used on all Canadian weapons and most LMGs.

Variable Power Scope - A scope that can switch between 2x, 4x, and 6x zoom levels. The standard skin is the S&B Short Dot. There are no unique variations.

High Power Scope - A scope that has 6x and 12x zoom levels, useful for snipers and heavy assault rifles (the only weapons they can be equipped to). The standard skin varies from gun-to-gun, though most use the Trijicon TA32.

  • The only known unique derivative is the PSO-1 scope used on the SVD Dragunov, VSS Vintorez, and SVU Dragunov.

Thermal Scope - A scope that can perform what the Variable Power Scope does, but with the addition of thermal imaging, allowing easier target identification and the ability to see through things like smoke grenades. The standard skin for the Thermal Scope is a Short Dot with what appears to be a grafted thermographic imagine system.

  • Another unique derivative is the PSO-1 for the aforemented sniper rifles only, with a Russian thermographic image system. They are not available for the other AK-derivative weapons.

Downloadable Content PacksEdit

Several downloadable content packs were made available for the game. One gun pack and one vehicle pack were made available as downloadable content.

Canadian Forces PackEdit

The CF Pack added on several weapons used by the Canadian Forces, which were the Browning Hi-Power handgun, the C3A1 sniper, the C6 LMG, the C7A1 assault rifle, the C8 carbine, the C9A1 LMG, the Eryx rocket launcher, the LRSW anti-material rifle, the M72A3 LAW, and a new skin for the Low Power Scope: the Elcan C79A1. The pack was released for Canadian PSN accounts a month earlier than the worlds, and any registered Canadian Forces members were able to download the pack for free.

FIA GT1 and GT3 PackEdit

The FIA GT1/GT3 pack added several cars that were present from the FIA GT1 and GT3 seasons. It also added one GT2 car - the BMW M3 GT ALMS.

Team Need for Speed packEdit

The Team NFS pack added Shift 2 Unleashed's Team NFS cars to the game. If the player did not download the FIA Pack, they got the Z4 GT3.

World War II PackEdit

The WWII Pack added several weapons that came from the Second World War.

Shift 2 Unleashed PackEdit

The Shift 2 Unleashed Pack added several new features to the game. Among them were an interior for all of the cars, and a first person mode which is supposed to simulate the point of view of the player character: this includes a regular mode and an immersion mode with an automatically moving head. As well, it added several Works Conversion cars into the game: some cars can be Works Converted, but all Works cars can be purchased directly. It also allows you to grab the FIA GT1/GT3 Pack and Team NFS Pack for free if you purchase the S2U pack.
