Seeley Joseph Booth is a character on the FOX television series, Bones.

Booth was born on May 16, 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, he was raised in Pittsburgh. Upon graduating from high school, Booth immediately enlisted in the United States Army.

During weapons qualification training, he displayed a natural ability for handling all types of weapons, but he specifically excelled during rifle qualification, in which he scored perfectly by hitting all targets at all ranges. After completing basic combat training and then advanced individual training, Booth went on to the U.S. Army Air Assault School. Upon completing air assault training, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. Booth later attended the U.S. Army Sniper School. Afterwards, he was assigned as a sniper to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. Booth saw combat in Operation Desert Storm.

He left the Army after four years of distinguished service and went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduating from Penn with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Booth reenlisted in the Army. He decided that he would become a U.S. Army Ranger.

After airborne training, Booth was sent to the Ranger Indoctrination Program. Upon graduation of RIP, he was assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion. Soon after, Booth attended and passed the U.S. Army Ranger School, earning his Ranger Tab. Because of his previous sniper experience, he was later selected to attend the Special Operations Target Interdiction Course. After completing the course, Booth was assigned as a sniper to the sniper section of a weapons platoon in the 2nd Ranger Battalion. As part of Regimental Reconnaissance Detachment Team 2, he was deployed to Kosovo in November of 2000.

After six more years of distinguished service, Booth retired from the Army with numerous commendations. He then applied to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Before Booth could join the Bureau, he had to go through the FBI application and hiring process, which included a physical fitness test, a background investigation, and a medical examination. After his successful completion of the hiring process, he went on to attend the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduating from the Academy, Booth was sworn in as a Special Agent and assigned to the Washington Field Office as a member of a violent crime squad.

In October 2004, he first met Dr. Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist with the Jeffersonian Institute. She helped Booth solve a murder investigation. A little under a year later, he was assigned as the official FBI liaison to the Jeffersonian Institute's Medico-Legal Lab. In this capacity, Booth works alongside Dr. Brennan and her team of forensic specialists to solve homicides in which the remains of the victims are so badly decomposed, burned or destroyed that the standard methods of identifying the body and/or cause of death are useless. Brennan and her team provides scientific expertise to read clues left behind in the victim's bones and Special Agent Booth provides his criminal investigation expertise, allowing them to catch murderers that no one else can catch.
