Shadow the Hedgehog's Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor is a customized Eta 2-Actis class light interceptor belonging to Shadow the Hedgehog. It replaced his original fighter, a modified A-Wing. It is more heavily armed than a standard Eta-2, because Shadow wouldn't "fly a fighter that can't whale on capital ships." The design painted on the S-foils matches the design on the Azure Angel II, the fighter piloted by his lover, Maria Robotnik.

History[]

Sonic and Shadow were left without starfighters when they used their RZ-1 A-wing interceptors to ram Metal Sonic's flagship, the Cobalt Cobra at the 6th Battle of Angel Island. This forced him to retreat or else risk losing the vessel and its precious databanks to the heroes. After the battle was over,Sonic and Shadow walked through row upon row of fighters looking for a new choice of ship. They settled upon Eta-2 Actis class light interceptors. Anakin Skywalker and Miles "Tails" Prower labored for a week to customize the fighters.

Shadow elected to have the ion cannons replaced with heavy repeating lasers, and to have missile launch racks added under the wings and energy torpedo launchers installed in the fuselage tips. In secret, he asked Anakin to hard-wire a disruptor rifle to the ship's control system for emergency use, although this was later removed Shadow gave the fighter its first combat test soon after. He piloted it to lead a task force to the Minos Cluster to help out an existing battle group. Shadow destroyed several droid tri-fighters and a Recusant-class destroyer, allowing the beleaguered force of Acclamator-class assault ships to break through the U.E.V. perimeter. Shadow led two squadrons of ARC-170 starfighters through the breach to discover a U.E.V. salvage operation, which was demolished and its would-be spoils seized and placed in a secure secret-storage facility. Shadow then led two Venator-class Star Destroyers carrying troopers from the New 501st Clone Trooper Legion to Saleucami to assist Link in his attack on the U.E.V. base there. Shadow flew over the battle field in his fighter destroying countless TIE Bombers and Droid Tri-fighters,allowing the ground-based vehicles to focus solely on enemy positions instead of having to provide anti-air cover as well. The battle was a success. The next major battle this fighter participated in took place when Shadow returned to Angel Island for a conference with Supreme Commander Pellaeon of the Imperial Remnant. Shadow took to the skies a day into the visit to defend against a massive U.E.V. offensive.

Specifications[]

The fighter was customized to suit Shadow's tastes for destructive capacity. Making such a small starfighter heavily armed was a challenging task, but it was done. Replacing the ion cannons with lasers was common, but the rest was difficult. External missile launch racks, with a capacity of five each, are mounted under each wing. They carry either cruise missiles or concussion missiles. Energy torpedo launchers are recessed in the fuselage tips. A disruptor rifle was mounted in a groove on the cockpit underside, but was later replaced with a proton torpedo launcher. But there was an even more daunting modification: The hyperdrive. The starfighter has a specially designed, compact Class 1 hyperdrive so that it is not dependent on a hyperdrive ring or a carrier for interstellar travel. The hyperdrive unit is partially accommodated by a pair of cylinders adjacent either side of the cockpit bottom. There was not room in the ship for a navicomputer, so one had to be retrofitted into the astromech droid. The ship incorporates a 6" diameter Chaos Drive as a backup power supply, although this can only be used for a short time before burning out the mains lead that connects it to the power systems. Lastly, although Sonic and Shadow do not have the precognitive reflexes of those attuned to the Force, no real sensor augmentation was needed. This is due to their reflexes, although not Force-enhanced, already being suited for the fighter by dint of being suited for running at speeds of 700mph or greater.

Behind the scenes[]

This article is part of the Collided Worlds saga which differs wildly from the official Star Wars story after 27 ABY.A massive Chaos Control performed by Shadow, Tikal, Sonic, Silver, and Blaze in their Super Forms to return the Yuuzahn Vong to their home planet, restore that planet, and repair all the damage they had done also restored billions of other lives, including a great many Jedi who had perished from 32 BBY to 27 ABY. Unfortunately, heroes and villains alike were revived. Palpatine is alive once more, much to the chagrin of the majority of the universe.

The fighter itself is one of the Elite Protagonists' Fighters, the ships piloted by the main hero figures.
