[SONG] Scene 1: Dora's backyard
Kai-Lan: "Ni hao, everybody, I'm Kai-Lan, and this is Dora's backyard."
Kai-Lan walks around and sees Dora painting a beautiful picture of tall grassy mountains.
[♫Dora Whistling In G Minor To Herself♫]
Kai-Lan: "Dora, what are you doing?"
Dora: "I'm painting a beautiful picture of tall grassy mountains."
Kai-Lan: "You're making a familiar sound, Dora."
Dora: "I'm just whistling in G minor so the whistling flowers are healthy and alive."
Kai-Lan: "I don't think I know how to do it, Dora, whistling sounds very hard."
Dora: "Just do what I do, Kai-Lan."
[Kai-Lan Blows Very Hard]
[Kai-Lan Continues Blowing Very Hard]
Kai-Lan: "It's impossible, I can't do it very well."
Dora: "You need to practice a lot more, Kai-Lan."
Narrator: Meanwhile back at home YeYe had just finished making blue frosting brownies.
[Kai-Lan Blowing Very Hard]
YeYe: "What are you doing, Kai-Lan?"
Kai-Lan: "I'm learning very hard to whistle the way Dora does, but I can't seem to do it right, can I call my cousin, Tiffany instead?"
YeYe: "Sure, Kai-Lan."
YeYe gives Kai-Lan the red wireless telephone.
[Red Wireless Telephone Ringing]
Tiffany: (speaking on the blue wireless telephone) "Ni hao, Kai-Lan, what are you doing?"
Kai-Lan: (speaking on the red wireless telephone) "I'm learning very hard to whistle the way Dora does, but I can't do it very well."
Tiffany: (speaking on the blue wireless telephone) "Gosh, Kai-Lan, that sounds very hard."
Kai-Lan: (speaking on the red wireless telephone) "I know, but can you really whistle, Tiffany?"
Tiffany: (speaking on the blue wireless telephone) "I don't know, Kai-Lan, but what's magical whistling anyway?"
Kai-Lan: (speaking on the red wireless telephone) "You just pucker up your mouth then blow very gently."
Tiffany: (speaking on the blue wireless telephone) "You mean do it like this?"
[♫Tiffany Whistles Loudly♫]
Kai-Lan hangs up the red wireless telephone.
Tiffany: (speaking on the blue wireless telephone) "Hello, Kai-Lan, are you still here?"
Kai-Lan wearily walks around and goes outside to the backyard.
YeYe: "Do you not want a blue frosting brownie, Kai-Lan?"
Kai-Lan: "No thanks, YeYe, I'm going outside."
Meanwhile outside in Kai-Lan's backyard.
Dora, Tiffany, YeYe and Kai-Lan are all outside.
YeYe: "You should rest, Kai-Lan, here, have a blue frosting brownie, it's hot, you should blow on it."
[Kai-Lan Blowing Very Hard]
[Kai-Lan Continues Blowing Very Hard]
[♫Kai-lan Whistles Loudly♫]
Kai-Lan: "Wow, what was that?"
Dora: "It sounded like some sort of whistle to me."
[♫Kai-Lan Whistling In G Minor♫]
Tiffany: "What a lovely sound."
Narrator: "Kai-Lan has finally learned how to whistle in G minor."
[Kai-Lan Giggling]
Kai-Lan: "I can finally whistle in G minor now."
[♫Kai-Lan Continues Whistling In G Minor♫]
Cut to Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu and Stompy on the playground.
Hoho: "Wow, do you guys hear that?"
Rintoo: "I've never heard anybody whistle in G minor like that."
Tolee: "Where could that be coming from, Lulu?"
Lulu: "I don't know, you guys, but I wanna find out."
Cut to Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu and Stompy in the forest........
Stompy: "It might be some whistling forest pixie."
Hoho: "Or some whistling leprechaun."
Tolee: "Or maybe it's..........(he sees Kai-Lan whistling in G Minor) Kai-Lan?"
[♫Kai-Lan Continues Whistling In G Minor♫]
Stompy: "Kai-Lan?"
[Kai-Lan Stops Whistling In G Minor]
Kai-Lan: "Ni hao, Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu and Stompy."
Hoho: "Kai-Lan, I didn't know you could really whistle in G minor like that."
Lulu: "You're the greatest, Kai-Lan."
Tolee: "Do some more, Kai-Lan."
Kai-Lan: "Thanks, you guys, but I don't know about it."
Stompy: "That's right, Kai-Lan, do you know any more?"
Lulu: "You're really great, Kai-Lan."
Kai-Lan: "Well, thanks, you guys, but I don't think so."
Lulu: "Please, Kai-Lan? we really like your whistling techniques, you're so talented."
Kai-Lan: "You really do? I really am?"
Tolee: "That's right, Kai-Lan."
Kai-Lan: "Well, alright......."
Hoho + Rintoo + Tolee + Lulu + Stompy: "Yeah, alright, encore!"
Lulu: "Thanks, Kai-Lan."
[♫Kai-Lan Whistling In G Minor♫]
Stompy: "Wow, I wish everybody could hear this."
Tolee: "Me too, Stompy, and Dora, and Boots, and everybody else."
Lulu: "Hey, you guys know what'll be great? a new whistling concert starring Kai-Lan."
Hoho: "That's right, we can invite all of our close friends."
[Kai-Lan Stops Whistling In G Minor]
Rintoo: "Kai-Lan, we've got a great idea for you."
Tolee: "Yeah right, get this, Kai-Lan the Whistling Chinese Girl, live and in concert."
Stompy: "And maybe a little band and party dancers and all of that, it'll be the most exciting thing to hit our home town ever."
Kai-Lan: "But I..........."
YeYe: [Calling From The House] "Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu, Stompy, it's lunch time!"
Hoho: "We gotta go, but Kai-Lan, this is gonna be so great."
Kai-Lan: "But I............"
Lulu: "That's right, let's go meet at the tire swing right after lunch and plan the concert."
Kai-Lan: "Hey, you guys, I don't know about this."
Cut to Kai-Lan, Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu, Stompy, Dora and Boots by the tire swing.
Lulu: "It's like I told you, it was so great, there was Kai-Lan up in the forest whistling the most incredible song in G minor to herself."
Tolee: "YeYe thinks the concert will be a good idea."
Dora: "My papi says he'll tell everybody when he delivers their mail."
Boots: "My dad says he'll bring chocolate soy milk and banana cream cookies for everybody."
Lulu: "Wow, Kai-Lan, your concert is gonna be so great."
[Music Playing In Background]
All 7 characters: (singing) ♫Get the party dancers and the banners and lots of snack foods♫ ♫call YeYe and the others♫ ♫there's a lot to do♫ ♫join the chorus and sing it for us♫ ♫so everybody knows that Kai-Lan is whistling in G minor in a great big stage show♫
Kai-Lan: (singing) ♫I'm not gonna do the concert I'm feeling queasy and my head hurts I'm not gonna is what they're missin', but they don't listen, listen to me♫
Lulu: ♫We can build the stage and hang up the lights get a lot of chairs and put them just right♫
Hoho: ♫We'll serve peppermint candy and clam chowder, blueberry banana smoothies and banana cream pie♫
All 7 characters: (singing) ♫let's all get busy♫
Kai-Lan: I'm feeling dizzy
All 7 Characters: (singing) ♫get up and go 'cause Kai-Lan is whistling in G minor♫
Kai-Lan: "Why aren't they listening to me?
All 7 characters: (singing) ♫in a great big stage show♫
Kai-Lan: "But I really like whistling in G minor out here in the forest all by myself, just me."
Lulu: [Voice Off Screen] "We'll meet up at the stage tomorrow afternoon at 3:39 for our dress rehearsal, so don't be late."
Meanwhile at the stage show..................
Dora: "You're gonna look so beautiful in this outfit I designed for you, Kai-Lan, I'm real excited for you."
Boots: "Here you go, Kai-Lan, my mom gave me this light blue daisy cap for you to use, this is gonna be so awesome."
Boots: "Oh, and don't knock anybody over."
Lulu: "Dora, did you finish our dresses for the ballet act?"
Dora: "Why yes, Lulu, of course, we're gonna be so talented when we party dance to Kai-Lan's whistling techniques."
Rintoo: "Lulu, do I need to stand this to the red frog juggler?"
Lulu: "No, Rintoo, they cancelled it, it was a great idea, but the red frogs were way too slippery and kept jumping away, so you can do your magic act right next to Kai-Lan."
Rintoo: "Great idea, Lulu, then it'll be easy to make her turn invisible."
Lulu: [Sighs And Groans] "You can't make Kai-Lan turn invisible, she's the super star of the show."
Kai-Lan: "Do I still need to whistle in G minor?'
All 7 characters: [Protesting]
Dora: "You can't make Kai-Lan turn invisible 'cause she's the super star of the show."
Kai-Lan: "But I'm very uncomfortable and nervous."
All 7 characters: "Huh, what?"
Lulu: "I'm terribly sorry, Kai-Lan."
Lulu: "Dora, Kai-Lan's not very comfortable and relaxed, can you fix the shirt collar so she's comfortable and relaxed."
Dora: "Why sure, Lulu, we don't want our super star to be uncomfortable and nervous."
Kai-Lan: "It's not the shirt collar, its..........it's........it's me."
Kai-Lan: "I'm terribly sorry, I'm not gonna ruin your fun and excitement."
Lulu: "Our fun and excitement? we're all doing this for you, Kai-Lan."
Kai-Lan: "Come on, you guys, I'm not gonna whistle in G minor right in front of a group of strangers."
Hoho: "They're not strangers, Kai-Lan, they're our close friends."
Kai-Lan: "I'm not gonna whistle in G minor right in front of a group of close friends."
Lulu: "Don't worry about it, Kai-Lan, you're gonna like it too, alright?"
Dora: "And everybody will like you."
Kai-Lan: "They will? everybody will like me? but not if I don't whistle in G minor."
Cut to Mayor Gibson onstage............
Mayor Gibson: "Words have it that Mr. Skullhead was the only 1 that whistled 'I've been Working on the Railroad' while working in the field mines that even came close to Kai-Lan, and Mr. Skullhead whistled 'I've been Working on the Railroad' while eating a sloppy joe sandwich in Joe's diner and the waitress kicked him out."
[Crowd Laughing Uncontrollably]
Lulu: "Has anybody seen Kai-Lan?"
Stompy: "No...."
Hoho: "Not me."
Rintoo: "Me neither."
Tolee: "I haven't seen her."
Lulu: "Where could she be?"
[Crowd Laughing Uncontrollably Again]
Lulu: "Mayor Gibson's almost done, we need to figure out where Kai-Lan is, real fast."
All 7 characters begin thinking to figure out where Kai-Lan is.
Lulu: "Maybe Kai-Lan is still getting into her costume."
Tolee: [Voice Off Screen] "Maybe Kai-Lan was so talented that she was discovered by the 'Moon Mountain All Chinese Girl Children Whistling In G Minor Choir', and she ran off and joined them.

Lulu: "Wait, stop!
Tolee: "What? What? what is it, Lulu?"
Lulu: "I know exactly what it is, Tolee, do you know how sometimes you don't wanna disco dance?"
Tolee: "Well, it's not that I don't like doing it, it's just that I don't wanna do it right in front of everybody else."
Lulu: "Exactly right, Tolee, I think it's the exact same thing with Kai-Lan."
Tolee: "What do you mean by that, Lulu?"
Lulu: "Do you remember how she kept saying she was feeling uncomfortable and nervous?"
Cut to Kai-Lan in the flashback sequences.........
Lulu: [Voice Off Screen] "When she tried telling us she didn't wanna do it, we didn't listen to her very well."
End flashback sequences..................
Rintoo: "We should've made sure Kai-Lan was alright with a stage show concert in the 1st place."
Dora: "Si, I guess we didn't really think about how Kai-Lan was feeling."
Lulu: "It's just that we got super excited about our ideas that we didn't think about her."
Kai-Lan shows up onstage............
Kai-Lan: "I'm terribly sorry I'm late, you guys, I'm ready to do it."
Lulu: "That's alright, Kai-Lan, you don't need to do it."
Kai-Lan: "I don't?"
Lulu: "No, Kai-Lan, you don't, a stage show concert was so exciting to all of us that we never paid any attention to what you wanted to do."
Kai-Lan: "It's just that some whistling concert is too crazy to be any fun for me."
Hoho: "We know, Kai-Lan, that's alright."
Kai-Lan: "So it's alright for you guys if I don't whistle in G minor for everybody else?"
Tolee: "Of course, Kai-Lan."
Kai-Lan: "Alright, super incredible, Xièxiè, Xièxiè, Xièxiè."
Lulu: "What'll we do about the props that come for our stage show?"
Dora: "We can't do our stuff without Kai-Lan whistling in G minor."
Hoho: "It's alright, I've got a good idea."
Cut to Hoho onstage..............
Hoho: "Alright, everybody, instead of whistling in G minor, I've got a special idea, the 1st annual Monkey See Monkey Do contest."
Hoho: "Now, everybody do exactly what I do."
Hoho spins around like crazy and so does everybody else..........
Cut to Kai-Lan in the forest............
Lulu: "Kai-Lan, there you are."
Kai-Lan: "How was the stage show, you guys?"
Hoho: "Everything turned out great, Kai-Lan, but we really wished you could've been there."
Kai-Lan: "Thanks, you guys."
Lulu: "Kai-Lan, I was just wondering, will you do us 1 big favor? if we sit here silently, could you whistle in G minor just for us?"
Stompy: "Please, Kai-Lan?"
Kai-Lan: "Why sure, you guys."

Cut to Kai-Lan, Hoho, Rintoo, Tolee, Lulu and Stompy inside Kai-Lan's house........
Hoho: "Wow, listening to Kai-Lan whistling in G minor is incredible, but Monkey See Monkey Do is much talented."
Tolee: "Isn't that amazing? for Kai-Lan, whistling in G minor is very easy, but having her do it right in front of everybody else is very hard, but for all of us, standing up in front of everybody is very easy, but whistling in G minor is very hard."
Lulu: "Well, I learned my lesson, you gotta listen to what people really wanna do, and you shouldn't convince them to do something they really don't wanna do."
Kai-Lan: "That's exactly right, Lulu"
GuNaiNai: "You children made me so proud with everything that you learned tonight, but right now, Kai-Lan, it's time for you to whistle yourself in G minor right into bed."
Kai-Lan: "Do I need to?"
YeYe: "Come on, Kai-Lan, it's bedtime."
Kai-Lan: "But, why not sing right to bed. After all, I can't really go to sleep yet.

Fade to a black screen.........
[Kai-Lan Whistling too loud]
Rintoo:[Death voice]
Kai-Lan: What i do?!!!! I kill Rintoo!
All characters:[Cry]
Kai-Lan: Oh No! All My Friends Are So Sad and Crying! Maybe He Can Tell Us, Because They Not Sure. But.. [Singing] We Gotta Try It's Yours To Find Out Why? All 7 Characters Are Crying!
